Не обов’язково мати антитіла: вчені з’ясували, що захищає людей від інфікування коронавірусом

Чимало людей, які ніколи не хворіли коронавірусом, можуть бути захищеними від нього завдяки наявності клітин, які з’являються після перенесених застуд.

Йдеться про Т-клітини, які допомагають організму боротися з COVID-19. Про це пишуть The Telegraph та The Daily Mail. Британські дослідники у червні перевірили 2 847 місцевих медиків, поліцейських і пожежників. Як виявилося, 25% з них мали високий рівень Т-клітин, які на відміну від антитіл, цілеспрямовано атакують уражені вірусом клітини, захищаючи людину від зараження. Дослідники кажуть, що ці клітини в організмі значно ефективніші, оскільки в наступні чотири місяці після проведення тестів ніхто з тих, у кого був високий рівень Т-клітин, не заразився коронавірусом.

“До нині більшість дослідників звертали більше уваги на антитіла, які нейтралізують вірус до того, як він потрапляє в клітини організму. Порівняно з цим, Т-клітини проникають саме в ті клітини, які вже інфіковані вірусом і вбивають їх. Важливо, що дослідники виявили, що жодна людина з високим рівнем Т-клітин не заразилася COVID-19 протягом наступних місяців, що дозволяє зробити висновки, що працює саме ця частина імунної системи і вона є ефективним захисним фактором “, − йдеться в повідомленні. За словами вчених, тільки половина з тих, у кого був високий показник Т-клітин, мали також антитіла проти COVID-19. Отож, за їхніми твердженнями, ці клітини здатні протистояти коронавірусу без наявності антитіл. Експерти вважають, що 14 млн людей у Британії вже заразилися коронавірусом і відповідно матимуть імунітет. Втім, науковці припускають, що імовірно, після чергової хвилі коронавірусу, дані про імунітет можуть змінитися.
