Яхья Джамме править країною вже 22 роки

Неочікуваний політичний поворот у Гамбії – президент Яхья Джамме відмовився визнати свою поразку на виборах і закликав провести нові.

Голосування відбулося 1 грудня. Наступного дня президент погодився з результатами. Чинний глава держави програв вибори опозиційному кандидату Адаму Берроу. За Джамме віддали 37% голосів, за його суперника – 45,5%. Однак нині він не визнає свою поразку. Заявляє, що під час виборів були допущені “серйозні порушення”. Цю заяву вже рішуче засудили у Держдепі США.

Яхья Джамме править країною уже 22 роки. Правозахисники неодноразово звинувачували його у репресіях опозиціонерів та журналістів. Сам президент заявляв: “готовий правити хоч мільярд років, якщо на те буде воля Аллаха”.

“Звертаючись до усіх гамбійців, заявляю – я не визнаю результати виборів і цією заявою анульовую їх повністю. Ми повернемося до виборчого процесу, тому що я хочу впевнитися, що кожен громадянин віддав свій голос. За цим наглядатиме неупереджена та незалежна від зовнішніх впливів виборча комісія”, – розповів Яхья Джамме.
