Відкритий несподіваний сонячний феномен

Фізики довгий час вважали обертання сонячних плям головним генератором сонячних спалахів – несподіваних, потужних викидів електромагнітного випромінювання заряджених частинок в космос за вибухи, що відбуваються на поверхні Сонця. Їх обертальний рух призводить до накопичення енергії, яка вивільняється потім у формі спалахів.

Однак група фізиків з Технологічного інституту Нью-Джерсі (New Jersey Institute of Technology, NJIT), США, сьогодні заявляє, що сонячні спалахи, в свою чергу, надають потужний вплив на сонячні плями, спостережувані нами згущення магнітних полів на поверхні Сонця, або фотосфері. У своїй новій роботі дослідники доводять, що сонячні спалахи змушують сонячні плями обертатися з набагато більш високими швидкостями (поля швидкостей сонячних плям представлені на фото), ніж зазвичай, перш ніж відбувається їх виверження в космос.

Ці спостереження, засновані на знімках високої роздільної здатності, зроблених за допомогою 1,6-метрового телескопа New Solar Telescope (NST), розташованого в обсерваторії Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) NJIT, стали сюрпризом для дослідників. Зовнішня оболонка Сонця, або корона, з якої відбувається вивільнення сонячних спалахів, має приблизно в 100 мільйонів разів меншу щільність плазми, в порівнянні з фотосферою.

«Це приблизно те ж саме, що побачити замість собаки, яка розмахувала хвостом, ще й хвіст, який розмахує собакою (tail wagging the dog)», — сказав Чанг Лю (Chang Liu), професор фізики NJIT і головний автор нового дослідження.

Колишні знімки, зроблені за допомогою космічних сонячних місій в більш низькому дозволі, містили натяки на цей феномен, однак не давали можливості його однозначного підтвердження, кажуть дослідники.
