Після сьомого раунду суперник українця 38-річний американець Чез Візерспун відмовився виходити в ринг.

Поєдинок пройшов у Чикаго 13 жовтня зранку за київським часом.

Перші два раунди Усик не форсував події і пристрілювався до свого суперника. Після третього раунду перевага українця за ударами стала відчутною. Візерспун, який був важчий за українця на 12 кг, намагався протиставити Усикe свої джеби, але вони зрідка долітали до Олександра. Усик мав вражаючу перевагу у швидкості і за викинутими ударами.

У шостому раунді Візерспун отримав відчутну порцію ударів і по закінченні 3-хвилинки ледве дійшов до свого кута. У сьомому раунді американець знову був притиснутий до канатів рингу і пропустив ще кілька серій по 5-6 ударів.

Після закінчення сьомого раунду американський боксер відмовився виходити в ринг, зберігши своє здоров`я.

Нагадаємо, що за тиждень до бою Візерспун замінив нідерландця Тайрона Спонга, допінг-проба якого дала позитивний результат.
