Наскільки заразний Омікрон
За словами Голубовської, зараз немає інформації, чи є новий штам заразніше, ніж, наприклад, Дельта.

“Поки неясно, чи є Омікрон більш заразним, в порівнянні з іншими варіантами, включаючи Дельта. Число інфікованих в Південній Африці зросло, але епідеміологічні розслідування з’ясовують, чи пов’язано це з Omicron або іншими факторами”, – уточнила інфекціоніст.

Яка тяжкість захворювання
Наскільки важким є перебіг хвороби після зараження новим штамом – теж поки не вивчено. Також неясно і на рахунок симптомів, чи відрізняються вони від Дельти.

“У Південній Африці зростає кількість госпіталізацій, але це може бути пов’язано зі збільшенням загального числа інфікованих людей, і не тільки варіантом Омікроном. В даний час немає інформації, що дозволяє припустити, що симптоми, пов’язані з Омікроном, відрізняються від симптомів інших варіантів”, – повідомила Голубовська.

Чи ефективна вакцина від Омікрону
“Ефективність вакцин від цього варіанту невідома (поки). Ефективність тестів: широко використовувані тести ПЛР виявляють і варіант Omicron, ефективність експрес-тестів вивчається”, – поінформувала медик.

Що відомо про новий штам?
Так, це штамп виявили в Перу у серпні 2020 року та швидко поширювався в Південній Америці. За даними фахівців його зафіксували у 26 країнах Америки, Європи та Океанії.

Штам активно набирає оберти та швидко поширюється. Попри це, в Бразилії перший випадок “Лямбди” зафіксували тільки в лютому цього року.

Які симптоми захворювання
Першим бразильським пацієнтом зі штамом став молодий чоловік, який повернувся з поїздки в Аргентину. У хворого проявилися симптоми респіраторного захворювання, а через кілька днів його стан зажадало госпіталізації. Через загострення перебігу хвороби його перевели в інтенсивну терапію.

Вчені описали вісім нових мутацій цього штаму, на додаток до 19 вже відомих. Передбачається, що штам відрізняється підвищеною трансмісивною ознакою. Також може спровокувати загострення епідемії в таких країнах як Чилі, Перу, Еквадор і Аргентина.

Окрім того, на сьогодні невідомо, наскільки ефективно від “Лямбди” захищають сучасні вакцини.
