25 жовтня торік на нього скоїли замах. Це сталося біля редакції телеканалу “Еспресо” на вул. Адама Міцкевича, 8, у Солом’янському районі Києва. Був гостем ефіру та виходив зі студії разом із охоронцем 30-річним Русланом Кушніром і політологом Віталієм Балою. Вибухівка була закладена у припаркований біля входу моторолер. Це зафіксували камери відеоспостереження. Окрім нардепа, його охоронця й політолога, осколки поранили перехожих — 36-річного Михайла Мормиля і Надію Тарасенко, 57 років.

Ігоря Мосійчука відвезли до клініки “Борис”, діагностували осколкові поранення кінцівок, спини та живота. Мав кілька операцій. Його охоронець помер дорогою до лікарні. У Віталія Бали були пошкоджені легені, печінка, пробита діафрагма. Перехожа Надія Тарасенко отримала складне поранення в голову. Колишній міліціонер Михайло Мормль помер у лікарні наступного ранку.

Руслан Кушнір місяць працював охоронцем у народного депутата Ігоря Мосійчука. Прикрив його своїм тілом, коли біля редакції телеканалу ”Еспресо” пролунав вибух. Помер дорогою до лікарні. У нього залишилися дружина і 4-річна донька
Замах кваліфікували як теракт. Слідство знаходилося під контролем СБУ. Уже в лютому цього року Ігор Мосійчук повідомив, що замах на нього розкрито, а виконавці встановлені. Частина з них знаходяться на тимчасово окупованих територіях, частина – у Росії, розповів.
“За даними слідства, терористи контактували з особами на території РФ. Є всі підстави вважати, що контактною особою на території РФ був співробітник ворожих спецслужб”, – повідомив тоді Мосійчук.

Уже за 2 місяці про розкриття злочину відзвітувала Служба безпеки України. Був затриманий один із організаторів злочину, повідомив глава СБУ Василь Грицак 3 квітня.

“Ми затримали одного з тих, хто брав участь в організації здійснення цього терористичного акту. Двоє інших перебувають на іншій території”, – сказав він, додавши, що його відомство знає, де саме вони знаходяться.

За словами Грицака, під час слідчих дій і обшуків було вилучено кілька кілограм тротилу, РПГ-26, гранати, інші речі та документи, які можуть вказувати на причетність затриманої особи до скоєння цього злочину.
