Він застосовується для дослідження психіки і її порушень. Випробуваному пропонується дати інтерпретацію симетричної, відносно вертикальної осі, чорнильної плями. Випробуваний повинен назвати будь-яке асоціативне перше слово, образ або ідею. Тест заснований на припущенні, згідно з яким те, що індивід «бачить» в плямі, визначається особливостями його власної особистості.

Отже, подивіться на пляму Роршаха, запам’ятайте першу асоціацію і прочитайте значення:

1. Мордочка кота або лисиці

Це найпоширеніша асоціація. Якщо ви побачили лисицю або кота (саме морду) – значить, ви відносно здорові, тобто тест Роршаха відхилень не виявляє і ви відноситеся до 85% людей.

2. Метелик

Якщо ви бачите метелика, це може свідчити про легкий стан когнітивного дисонансу всередині вас. Як правило, метелика бачать вразливі молоді люди до 20 років, схильні до роздумів і поверхневим депресій. Метелик є символом гармонії, якої не вистачає тому, хто бачить його в плямі.

3. Летюча миша

Кажана можуть бачити люди, схильні до агресії і жорстокості. Серійний вбивця Андрій Чикатило на тесті Роршаха бачив кажана. Можуть розвинутися садистські нахили.

4. Шкура тварини

Шкура якоїсь тварини – ведмедя, тигра, вовка та ін. – свідчить про дуже міцну і здорову психіку. Як правило, шкури бачать люди, які добре знають, чого вони хочуть і як цього домогтися, люди зі стійкою системою цінностей (педагоги, церковні служителі, вегетаріанці). Шкура звіра символізує перемогу над диким тваринам – тобто перемогу над своїми сумнівами.

5. Краб

Краба бачать люди, схильні до істерії, неврозів і тривожних розладів.

6. Два ведмедя на фонтані

Досить рідкісна, але не поодинока асоціація. Може свідчити про шизофренічний тип особистості і про хвороби шизофренії. Ні в якому разі тест Роршаха не може поставити діагноз, до того ж такий серйозний, як шизофренія. Двох ведмедів на фонтані можуть бачити як шизофреніки, так і просто люди з добре розвиненим уявою.
