Сьогодні, всі християни світу святкують празник Воздвиження Чесного Хреста. Це одне з 12 великих свят і є урочистим прославляння Хреста Господнього. Його відзначають в пам’ять про знайдення хреста, на якому розіп’яли Ісуса Христа.

Хоча Воздвиження Хреста Господнього – це одне з головних церковних свят, воно завжди відзначається як пісний день, тому що ми також згадуємо про страждання, які наш Господь переніс. Тому, з найдавніших часів стало звичаєм Церкви в цей день дотримуватися строгого посту.

У соборах і монастирях поклонінню передує обряд Воздвиження Хреста.
