Фахівці стежили за розширенням зіниць випробовуваних, що є індикатором сексуального збудження. Зіниці жінок розширилися, коли вони дивилися на секс між чоловіками і жінками, а також жінок з жінками. Чоловіки відреагували розширенням зіниць на відео як з жіночою мастурбацією, так і з чоловічою – незалежно від заявленої сексуальної переваги випробуваного. Таким чином, вченим вдалося спростувати міф, що бісексуальність є якістю виключно представниць жіночої статі. Замість оперування такими поняттями, як «гей» і «натурал», вчені рекомендують ставитися до сексуальної орієнтації людини тепер як до цілого спектру певних переваг.
