Православна церква закликала не зрізати живі ялинки,а шукати екологічні варіанти.

Про це йдеться у сюжеті ТСН.19:30.

З посиланням на відповідні цитати Святого письма церква радить вірянам на Новий рік не купувати зрубані ялинки і не нищити природу.

Як альтернативу у церква кажуть прикрашати деревця просто на вулиці або купувати ялинки в горщиках, які можна висадити. Крім того, можга обійтись лише хвойними гілочками удома для запаху, натомість надати перевагу штучній зелені.

Замінити живу ялинку у церкві також радят варінтами дерев із солодощів, книг чи хатнього приладдя.
